MARKETING YOUR BOOK

The biggest tip I will give you though, is don’t keep promoting yourself. It gets boring. It will most likely turn anyone off who has either bought your book and, if you are again lucky enough, are also following you.

Yet, in the same breath you could ask yourself what about TV adverts. You’ve seen them over and over. You may even be brainwashed into singing the jingle, and you might even go out and buy, buy, buy! So it does work.

Conflicting information? Hell yes.

I tend to get a lot of questions about marketing my book. An honest answer: It’s a nightmare. I’d rather pull teeth. When it comes to social media and promotions, I’ve come to the conclusion I have had to learn. Re-learn and then learn from the best and try to understand what to do.

So I mix it up. Add different memes. Offer author slots on my blog. Do a variety of videos. Use Canva to make posts and a whole heap more. You may find me on Instagram FacebookAuthor and Twitter

Keep in touch with fellow authors. Promote their work. And, I have to say, some are simply beautifully brilliant, they promote me. Thank you guys!

Better still connect with your readers. They after all are special. They are the ones you want to read your masterpiece. Make sure you respond to anything they have commented on in any of your socials. Actually, I love connecting with my readers and I love connecting with fellow authors and budding writers. So this bit may take time, but I am grateful for the connections. THANK YOU

So here I am, with the permission of marketing professionals, adding information they have sent me in their newsletter. Geniuslink / booklinker has been a bonus making sure my book has one link to get anyone asking, to get them straight to the amazon site. 🙂 YAY!

Are you a subject matter expert? Let us know! Social Media for Authors

Unlike many other book marketing methods, social media is typically a channel most authors take part in, but don’t utilize to their best advantage. Many authors spend too much time posting, but aren’t focused on creating relationships with readers, or worse only share, ‘buy my book’ posts making you lose followers.

These strategies can be a time sink, keeping you from creating lasting fans of your work while growing sales.

Booklinker is here to change that. We spoke to KJ Waters, an international bestselling author, creator of the Stealing Time Series, and an author consultant, in order to create a guide to social media for authors.

We’ll cover all of the best social platforms for authors, how to pick the right platform for you, along with actionable tactics.
