BLOGS. SCAMMERS AND I.T.

Hi everyone

I’m fairly new to this blogging scene and I’m still learning. So forgive me for any faux pas. PLEASE NOTE THAT I WILL NOT BE ANSWERING ANY QUESTIONS at the moment BECAUSE OF SCAMMERS.

THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU WHO ARE KIND IN YOUR WORDS. I DO NOT WANT FLANNEL OR FLATTERY. I HATE ALL THAT STUFF. SORRY BUT I DO.

My purpose for blogging is to share information, and hopefully help budding writers. I think I’ve stated this in a very early post.

Whilst I’m not an expert, I have SOME expertise around writing as I have listened to experts, read numerous books on the subject, attended creative writing courses and groups. So, I thought, hey, why not put it out there for anyone who cares to read. I don’t get paid for this, but I am very happy to share.

Some have made it clear that I have made grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. I guess I should read everything over and over, but there will, I’m afraid be mistakes, and for that I can only apologise. Time waits for no man as they say, and my editor is waiting for me to get back to her for my second novel The Twenty-One-Year Contract…. I’ve also been told I should add more photographs and videos to make my blog more punchy and less vanilla. I haven’t a clue how to add a video, at this time I don’t want to.

Now to the questions I have been asked about numerous times and want to answer in one post so that it gives you the answers I think you are looking for regarding platform, blogging and scammers.

First of all, I am no I.T. guru. I’ve said this load of times. I don’t know what Safari is, other than going on a fabulous trip to see animals in their natural habitat.

I don’t know anything about plugins. What I do know is that I used ELEVATEOM to do my website and that the platform is WP. They are a great bunch of people, so I hope that helps.

What are plug ins?

I apologise once again because I really am thick in this respect. Seriously!

I love your questions, but I thought it would be more helpful if you can share your expertise in these matters? I would love to have a bite of that cake, if you are happy to share with everyone who comes to this post.

What can we do about SCAMMERS? All I know is that by putting a simple – ‘you have a superpower’ as one of my titles, I ended up with porn. Not for me thank you very much. This is a decent site for people who are keen to write. So I make all my post titles VANILLA vanilla.

hi Lynne I saw your problem with spam. This might help. I have a wordpress site myself. you can use the disallowed comment keys section in discussion. It means manually inputting but it can help block that particular ip or trigger word https://contactform7.com/comment-blacklist/

I GUESS THIS IS THE SAME BUT I am really grateful for both and all the suggestions sent to me!

WordPress has an option of blacklisting certain keywords, email adresses, IP addresses, whole or in part. I use that to block out most of the spam. The rest can be managed by manually approving each, or converting the blog into a membership site, effectively screening each new member

I think your site might be having browser compatibility issues.
When I look at your website in Ie, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping.
I just wanted to give you a quick heads up!

Do you
ever run into any web browser compatibility problems?
A couple of my blog visitors have complained about
my blog not operating correctly in Explorer but looks great in Opera.
