Spotlight: Author Liz Ellen

Hi Liz, welcome to my blog. I’m thrilled to be able to share your upcoming release here:

Overruling Judgment, an #erotic #romance will be released on July 5, 2023

Lets start out with a little background about our lovely author Liz:

Author Bio:

Liz Ellyn nourishes people’s cravings for the irresistible. Like the decadent desserts she delivers, she creates alluring characters deserving of happy endings.

With degrees in both engineering and law, she argues that the positive energy gained by indulging in one’s guilty pleasure appropriately counterbalances the serious forces of daily life.

When she isn’t writing or devouring steamy romance books, she spoils her family, including her two dogs, Boomer and Tanner.

Bon Appetite and Happy Reading!

‘If you can’t choose between two men, why not choose both?’ Please remember this novel is rated SPICY!

Here what the story line offers – hold on tight as it is rated on the spicy scene as 5 hot peppers!

Ian refuses to allow an explosive night of passion to derail his desire to make partner at the law firm. But, her tempting presence in the office, along with her alluring scent, mocks his resolve.

JD’s the hot art teacher with the body and stamina of a former professional hockey player. He’s a creative master, in and out of the bedroom, who captures the affection of the brilliant young attorney, but he second-guesses if he’s enough for her.

Sasha won’t settle for less in her career or love life. It’s all or nothing. After a twist of fate and a proclamation of love, Sasha escapes choosing between Ian and JD. The alternative is far more arousing.

With careers in flux and hearts on the line, how will they all find the fortitude to come out on top?

Fan Appeal:

The story will appeal to fans of Maya Banks’s Cotlers Series and fans of the new Gossip Girl and the show Good Trouble. The tone is a cross between Lauren Dane’s Brown Family Series and Christina Lauren’s Beautiful Series, mixed with a little of Laurelin Paige’s Fixed Series

Liz has kindly provided us with an excerpt:

Ian started talking. Of course, he initiated control of the conversation just like he dominated legal negotiations. “We understand that you aren’t inclined to choose either one of us. We aren’t pressing you to do that now.” The tenderness in Ian’s voice and the concern in JD’s eyes alarmed her.

Sasha’s chin began to quiver as a feeling of doom swept through her. Tears welled up in her eyes. “Are you both here for closure’s sake?”

“Fuck no!” JD swore, clasping her hand more securely. “I have no desire to end things with you.”

A tear slid down her cheek. Sasha started biting her lip. Did JD think she was going to choose him over Ian? Her head started to spin. Nausea brewed in her belly.

Ian leaned in closer. “Neither of us wants to end things with you. Well, I suppose our case is a little different.” Ian extended an open hand. Her free hand itched to reach out and accept Ian’s offer. Uncertainty made her hesitate.

“I’m totally confused.” Sasha looked back and forth between the two. Neither of their faces gave her a clue. What were they suggesting?

Liz, what a great excerpt! Thank you. To my readers, please remember this is rated Spicy.

I think it’s great when we can chat, and find out a bit more about your book, and I was so pleased when you agreed to answer some questions for my readers, so let’s not waste another minute and find out more

Tell me more about your book.

Overruling Judgment is a romance between a woman and two men in Chicago in their late twenties/early thirties striving to find love while their careers are in flux.

With hundreds of thousands of romance books out there, how is yours different?

My book is a twist on the typical flawed love triangle. Instead, my story takes the taboo out of polyamory and embraces the concept of ethical non-monogamy while incorporating several other common romance tropes.

How steamy is the book?

On a romance heat scale, it deserves 5 hot peppers. In other words, there are numerous explicit sex scenes and explicit language.

Is this porn or erotica?

My book is classified as erotic romance, which means that the story is primarily about the development of a romantic relationship. It includes all the emotional elements expected in a sweet romance but also includes numerous sex scenes. In contrast, the essence of porn and erotica is a sexual journey, where feelings aren’t necessarily involved.

Okay, so what is polyamory exactly?

Consensual non-monogamy is when more than two people agree to engage in a romantic relationship with the full knowledge and consent of all parties involved.

Why are you focused on polyamory?

Polyamorous romance is on the rise in real life, not just in novels. Statistics state that one in six would like to engage in a poly relationship. Several celebrities have admitted to being involved in poly.

Isn’t polyamory just fictional?

If we can have unconditional love for more than one child, why can’t we love more than one partner?

I think that is an interesting take on life. I wonder what my readers think. Can you tell me a little about the characters?

Sasha has been working as an attorney for a year and won’t settle for less in her career or love life. Ian is driven to make partner at his law firm. JD left his professional hockey career due to an injury and is now teaching art classes.

Is this a stand-alone book?

This is a stand-alone as it doesn’t end on a cliffhanger. But I have an entire series plotted in my head and am currently finishing up the first draft of the second book.

Will every book include polyamory?

I can’t say for certain but I will always focus on positive healthy sexual relationships.

Thank you so much for this, Liz and I’m pleased you thought to share this wonderful

‘Treat yourself to a sizzling romance with Liz Ellyn’s Overruling Judgment. Sasha Smirnova is an ambitious attorney at one of Chicago’s most eminent law firms. After being put to work on a case with Ian O’Malley, someone with whom Sasha had a passionate one-night stand months ago, they were determined to keep things professional, as both have ambitions to become partners at the firm. Meanwhile, Sasha begins a romance with her ruggedly handsome art teacher JD, an ex-hockey player whose career ended abruptly. However, unbeknownst to Sasha, Ian and JD are brothers. Things get complicated when the two brothers realize they have feelings for the same woman. They come up with an unconventional solution that just might make everyone happy, but will it work?

Laced with erotic thrills, romance, humor, and drama, Overruling Judgment is the book for anyone looking for a blazing contemporary romance novel. Liz Ellyn weaves an engaging tale centered on a love triangle where all three participants are charming and compelling in their distinct ways. Ellyn maintains a brisk pace with the plot, which makes the book a breeze to read. Sasha, Ian, and JD have palpable chemistry, and their relationship dynamic provides the narrative thrust for the story. Each intimate scene involving the three is permeated with sexual tension and intrigue, and you can’t help rooting for them to end up together. I was also pleasantly surprised by the humor-infused dialogue that made the reading experience all the more enjoyable. Recommended to contemporary romance readers.”

This is so different from books I've read. Best of luck with it!

Thank you. Polyamory is becoming much more prevalent in the real world. According to Newsweek, "One in nine Americans have been in a polyamorous relationship, and one in six would like to try one." I find the why-not-both trope to be more interesting than the traditional love triangle. In a love triangle, often the two characters are not actually equal in likability and the decision is overly obvious. In polyamory, no one is put in a position of being strung along. Most importantly, the book offers double the drama, double the fun, and double the spice.
